Multilane Cross-Over Cable
|
|
When using our Multi-Lane to SATA adapter on both ends of the cable, a
cross-over cable is needed. Most of the ones sold are straight-through
cables. This modification will change it into a cross-over cable and is very
easy to do. You can also easily change it back again. This only needs to be
done to one end of the cable. |

|
Disassemble the cable housing by removing the two screws. There is a thinner
cover plate, main housing, and two thumb screws. |
The cable is made to index into the thinner housing cover plate. To create a
cross-over cable, the cable can be flipped over in the housing. |
 |
 |
|
Trim the opposite corners to create a relief. This is easiest done with
side-cutting wire cutters pliers. You can also carve the plastic with a
hobby knife since the plastic is very soft. . |

Now the cable will fit on both sides to work as either a straight-through
cable or cross-over cable. Re-assemble the cable making sure that the insert
fits into the housing without binding. Make sure the housing fits together
before tightening the screws. |
