VFD/LCD Display Installation
|
 |
 |
| Included with the VFD
option are a set of mounting screws and spacers. Remove the short screws
that came with your VFD and replace with the longer screws. Be sure not to
lose the small white spacers between the circuit boards. With the display
laying face down, determine the proper length of spacers to use.
|
The spacer arrangement shown above is for without
the color filter.
The thin nylon washer is placed above the circuit board so that the
screw length is correct. The screw will screw into the faceplate about 3/16"
deep. If the screw is too long, add a thin spacer above the screw. |
 |
 |
| This spacer arrangement is for use with a color filter
lens. The lens is 1/16" thick so you will add a thin nylon spacer next to
the long spacer below the bottom circuit board . Shown above is the blue filter available from
Matrix
Orbital. |
When installing the display onto the faceplate, it is
easiest to remove the faceplate from the case. Lay the faceplate down on a
towel to protect the finish. Lift the VFD assembly onto the back of face
plate. Carefully start each screw
into the tapped holes in face plate. Slowly tighten all screws working
your way around to keep them even. Just snug the screws down lightly, do not
over-tighten.

 |
| If you ordered the DVD control buttons, plug the connector into the single row 10-pin header on
display. Please see your VFD/LCD manual for proper cable connections. The
serial VFD's require a special power cable to operate at the correct
voltage.

By using Girder or
LCDC, you can program your computer to
display messages and information. |
