IMPORTANT: Always refer to the wire colors since the lettering on the housing may not be correct. NOTES:1) The one-piece housing must be plugged into the header connector on the port adapter. The individual wire housings connect to the proper pins on your motherboard. 2) The Asus P4C800-E is shown as an example, use this as a reference for selecting the correct pins on your particular motherboard. 3) USB pin #4 (Blue and Black) is connected to the cable shield. | Trouble Shooting | |
| Problem: Device is functioning on the USB or Firewire port. |
Possible cause: Check that the wires for the adapter are connected to
the proper pins on your motherboard. Make sure the internal header port on the motherboard is enabled in the BIOS. The BIOS also has other settings related to the USB port that can affect operation. Try restoring the default settings. There could be a hardware conflict with with other USB ports in your system. Some audio and video capture cards have USB and Firewire ports that may interfere with the motherboards ports. Try removing the card as a test.
|
| Problem: USB device works
on the rear panel connector, but not on the front panel adapter port.
|
Possible cause: See possible causes above for non-functioning device. Test the port with a basic USB 1.0 mouse, if it works ok there may be a setting in the BIOS preventing the port from working with USB 2.0 devices There may be a problem with the motherboard BIOS causing the internal port not to function. You may need to update BIOS on the motherboard, check with the manufacturers website to see if a update is available. Updating programs have a option to back-up the old BIOS before updating.
|
| Problem: Windows pops up a
message saying the port is running at a slow speed when a high speed device
is plugged in.
|
Possible cause: You need to install the USB 2.0 drivers that usually
are provided on the CD with your motherboard. The device will function fine
at the slower USB 1.0 speed, but the drivers must be installed to get the
higher USB 2.0 speeds.
